40-year-old homemaker Jessica Foo was on her way home on Friday, 6.30pm (12 January) when she almost tripped over this uncovered drain near her house at Block 535 Bukit Batok Street 51.
However, just when Jessica thought she had averted a "disaster", she almost tripped over another uncovered drain with broken cement covers.
According to Jessica, it was raining very heavily and visibility was very poor. It did not help that most of the drain covers were either broken or missing.
Said Jessica, "These cement covers can be quite unstable especially on rainy days when the street lights are dim and you can't see very well."
Christina Goh, general manager of Hong Kah Town Council, said: "Our Town Council has since replaced the broken cement slabs. We apologise to Ms Foo for the inconvenience caused. Ms Foo may wish to call us on Tel: 6569 0388 for future feedback."
